About LetterLit
LetterLit is a space for writers to draft, share, and get feedback. Create posts, respond to prompt challenges, and improve with community discussion. Publish publicly or keep posts unlisted for private sharing. Development is an on-going process, so please leave me feedback of any features you would like to see added!
How to Use the Site
- Sign up & set your display name: Your display name shows under your posts and comments.
- Create a post: Use “New Post” or “Quick Write” to draft. Keep drafts private if you like.
- Prompts & challenges: Time-boxed prompts to beat writer’s block.
- Comment & engage: Leave constructive feedback. Use likes to encourage others.
- Manage your work: Edit or delete your posts from your account area.
About Unique IDs
Every account on LetterLit has a Unique ID —
a short six-character code like A4Z7QJ that appears on your profile.
This code serves as your personal identifier within the site.
Why we use them
LetterLit's Unique IDs make it easy to share your profile and connect with others without revealing your email address or personal information. Each code is randomly-looking but mathematically generated, guaranteeing that every user receives a completely unique combination. There are billions of possible IDs, and no two accounts will ever share the same one.
How to use them
- Share your Unique ID with friends, classmates, or readers so they can find you quickly.
- To look someone up, enter their 6-character code (like
A4Z7QJ) in the search bar on the Users page. - You can also search using brackets — for example,
[A4Z7QJ].
Good to know
- Your Unique ID never changes, even if you update your display name.
- It’s safe to share — it doesn’t expose your login or contact information.
- Because IDs are generated mathematically, duplicates are impossible.
So if you ever want someone to find you on LetterLit, all you need to share is your Unique ID.
Community Rules & Guidelines
- Be respectful — critique ideas, not people. No harassment or hate content.
- Constructive feedback — be specific and kind about clarity, pacing, voice, structure.
- No plagiarism — only post writing you own the rights to.
- Content warnings — add a short note for sensitive themes when appropriate.
Privacy & Ownership
You retain rights to your writing. If your account is deleted, your posts are deleted too (by design).
